Biography
Andi Muhammad Nur Putra is an Assistant Professor and
Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Institut Teknologi
Padang, Indonesia. His expertise focuses on Power Electronics, Electric Drives,
and Renewable Energy Systems, particularly for the advancement of sustainable
technologies in electric mobility and smart grids.
He earned his Bachelor of Engineering (S.T.) in Electrical
Engineering from Institut Teknologi Padang in 2012, where he built a strong
foundation in electrical systems, control, and circuit design. He then pursued
his Master of Engineering (M.T.) in Electrical Engineering at Institut
Teknologi Bandung, graduating in 2016. His master’s research concentrated on
enhancing the performance of boost converters using predictive control
techniques, which sparked his long-term interest in intelligent control applications
in power electronics. To broaden his applied engineering perspective, in 2017 he completed a non-degree professional program in Power System Applied
Competencies at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), Canada, where he gained international exposure to practical power system operations.
Currently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in
Electrical Engineering at Universitas Andalas, Indonesia. His doctoral research
focuses on the development of a novel high-gain boost converter topology for
electric vehicle (EV) battery charging systems integrated with solar energy
sources. This work supports the shift toward cleaner, high-efficiency energy
conversion systems essential for next-generation EV infrastructure.
Beyond his core academic research, Andi is actively engaged in research and development projects funded by national and institutional grants, particularly in the areas of distributed power generation, power quality improvement (e.g., D-STATCOM), hybrid control methods, and electric vehicle infrastructure. His recent research includes the design of autonomous (self-charging) EV battery systems utilizing thin-film solar technology. He has participated in and presented at several national and international conferences, and has served as a session chair and scientific reviewer. His commitment to research excellence is also demonstrated through his involvement in various academic collaborations and professional forums, including FORTEI and Mata Garuda.
